Our phone assistant: privacy and AI, on one page
The first thing every caller hears is something like: Hi, thanks for calling our business! This is Ann, an AI assistant. I'll use what you tell me to help with your call. What can I do for you?
- Is it a person?
- No. It is an AI assistant and says so in the first sentence of every call. If asked, it says again that it is an AI.
- What it collects
- Only what the business’s own request form asks for (for example a name, phone number, address, and what you need), plus the phone number you called from.
- What it never collects
- Card or bank numbers, Social Security or Medicare numbers, passwords, PINs, or codes texted to you. Health details only if the business has specifically approved them.
- Nothing is sent without your yes
- It reads your details back and sends the request only after you say yes. You can change or stop it at any point.
- Recording
- Calls are not recorded. (Call recording is coming soon. When a business turns it on, the assistant will tell you at the start of the call.)
- How long things are kept
- Call transcripts and summaries: 30 days. Request records: 90 days. Screenshots of the form being filled in: 7 days. Photos you send: 30 days after the request closes.
- Who sees it
- The business you called, and ResultLine to run the service.
- Emergencies
- If someone may be hurt or in danger, the assistant tells you to hang up and call 911, and sends the business an urgent message.
- Texts
- It texts you only if you agree on the call (for example to send photos). Reply STOP to any text to opt out.
- Health privacy (HIPAA)
- ResultLine is not set up for medical records and does not sign HIPAA business associate agreements today. Please don’t share medical details on the call; the team will talk with you directly.
